New Timings for Educational Institutions
Punjab’s single-shift schools are currently scheduled to operate from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. Due to religious observances, these establishments will close earlier on Fridays at 11:30 a.m.
For schools operating on a double-shift basis, the morning shift will also begin at 7:30 am and end by 1:00 pm. The second or afternoon shift will start at 2:00 pm, continuing until 6:00 pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, the second shift will run from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm, giving students and staff a slightly shorter day.
These adjustments reflect the government’s effort to maintain academic continuity while managing the current climate challenges. The school reopening process will be monitored closely, especially in regions where the heatwave is particularly severe.
